According to BBC News, Celtic have been drawn against Austrian champions LASK in the Champions League play-off round. Martin O’Neill’s side qualified directly for the round, as did LASK, who won their domestic title for the second time last season, their first since 1965.

Celtic will be at home for the first leg on 18 and 19 August, with the return game the following week. LASK were described as probably the toughest draw Celtic could have received from the possible opponents, which also included Viking Stavanger, Celje, Ararat-Armenia, Kairat Almaty, Levski Sofia, AGF Aarhus and Sabah. Dietmar Kuhbauer’s side have a lower coefficient than Celje, although the Austrian league is ranked much higher than Slovenia’s.

Rangers will face either Northern Irish champions Larne or Iberia Tbilisi of Georgia in the Europa League play-offs if they defeat Jagiellonia Bialystok of Poland. If Rangers lose in Europa League qualifying, they will meet Jablonec of Czech Republic or RFS of Latvia. Rangers will be at home for the first leg of their Europa League play-off on 20 August.

Heart of Midlothian, who moved into the Europa League after losing to Sturm Graz in Champions League qualifying, will play either Denmark’s AGF Aarhus or Azerbaijan’s Sabah should they defeat Benfica. If Hearts lose, they will face Paide Linnameeskond of Estonia or Rapid Vienna of Austria in the Conference League play-off round. They will also be at home on 20 August in either play-off competition.

Motherwell will meet German Bundesliga side Freiburg if they overcome Finland’s HJK Helsinki. Freiburg were beaten by Aston Villa in last season’s Europa League final. Hibernian will take on IFK Gothenburg of Sweden or Gent of Belgium if they oust Shkendija of North Macedonia. Motherwell would have a home first leg if they progress, while Hibs would begin away from home.
