Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior expressed his frustration with the team’s performance following a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Brighton at the Amex Stadium. The loss marked Chelsea’s fifth consecutive defeat without scoring, a streak not seen since 1912. According to BBC News, the match showcased a concerning lack of effort from the players, who did not register a shot on goal until the 40th minute.

Rosenior faced chants from frustrated supporters as Chelsea struggled defensively and failed to mount any significant attacking threat. The coach described the performance as both “indefensible” and “unacceptable,” emphasizing the need for immediate changes within the team. He pointed out that the players must take accountability for their lack of intensity and spirit on the pitch.

With Chelsea now seven points behind fifth-placed Liverpool, the team’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League appear bleak. Rosenior’s future as head coach is also under scrutiny, as the club prepares for a crucial FA Cup semi-final against Leeds on Sunday.

Rosenior highlighted the need for the players to reflect on their performance, stating, “The general attitude, spirit, determination was lacking a part from maybe three or four of the 11.” He acknowledged the emotional toll of the defeat, insisting that the professionalism displayed was not acceptable for a club of Chelsea’s stature.
