According to BBC News, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has defended the team’s decision to sign kicker Justin Tucker to its practice squad after he served a 10-game NFL suspension.
Tucker was accused last year of sexual misconduct by 16 massage therapists in the Baltimore area during the 2010s. The 36-year-old, who has consistently denied the allegations and never faced criminal charges, received the suspension after an NFL investigation found he had violated the league’s personal conduct policy.
“He’s done his suspension, taking care of that business there. I’ll leave it at that,” Reid said at a news conference on Wednesday. Reid said the Chiefs had done their “homework” before bringing Tucker in, but declined to provide further details.
Tucker was released by the Baltimore Ravens in May 2025, with the team describing the move as a “football decision” following declining form. He is immediately available for selection after serving the ban.
A five-time All-Pro and Super Bowl XLVII winner with Baltimore, Tucker is second in NFL history in field-goal percentage at 89.1% across 13 seasons. The Chiefs signed him after struggles by Harrison Butker, who has missed five of 16 field-goal attempts this season, including two in Saturday’s 20-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
