According to ABC News, a school-aged child has died and six others have been taken to hospital after a single-vehicle rollover at Parwan, west of Melbourne. The crash occurred on a regional road on Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency services received reports of the crash near the intersection of Nerowie and Parwan-Exford roads, west of Melton, shortly before 4pm. Victoria Police said one child died at the scene despite CPR being performed. A second child was airlifted to the Royal Children’s Hospital with critical injuries, while five other children were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Ambulance Victoria said four children were taken to the Royal Children’s Hospital, including the child flown by helicopter. Two children were transported by road to Western Hospital Sunshine. An adult woman was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital for observation.
Two specialist Air Ambulance Victoria helicopter crews, two Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance paramedic crews and seven Advanced Life Support paramedic crews assessed eight people at the scene, Ambulance Victoria said. Police are investigating the crash.
