Flavio Cobolli has reached the semi-finals of the French Open for the first time in his career after defeating Canadian fourth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime in a four-set match. Cobolli, the 10th seed, won the match with scores of 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, showcasing his determination and skill on the court. This victory sets him on a path to potentially clinch his first Grand Slam title.

According to BBC News, Cobolli utilized Rafael Nadal’s favored shower cubicle at Roland Garros as part of his superstitious routine. He will face fellow Italian Matteo Arnaldi in the semi-finals, who advanced after Matteo Berrettini retired due to a hip injury during their quarter-final match.

Cobolli acknowledged the challenging conditions during the match, particularly in the windy first set. However, after the roof was closed on Court Philippe Chatrier, he found his rhythm and managed to break back in the second set. “I think we played two different matches today,” Cobolli remarked, emphasizing the impact of the weather on their performance.

With this win, Cobolli is poised to make his top-10 debut on the ATP rankings, contingent on the outcome of Jakub Mensik’s match against Alexander Zverev in the other semi-final. The Italian player’s success comes despite the earlier exits of favorites like Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti due to injury, ensuring an Italian finalist in the tournament.
