Sydney, Australia, 14 August 2026 – Food lovers, families, and culture seekers are invited to experience one of Sydney’s most vibrant celebrations when the Cabramatta Moon Festival returns on Sunday, 20 September 2026.
This year’s event promises a spectacular day of food, culture, and entertainment, transforming Cabramatta into Sydney’s ultimate Southeast Asian cultural food and lifestyle destination. Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said excitement is already building for one of Fairfield City’s most anticipated annual events.
“The Cabramatta Moon Festival is one of our City’s most loved celebrations and an event that showcases the incredible culture, food, and community spirit that make Cabramatta such a special destination,” Mayor Carbone said.
“This year we’ve added some exciting new experiences to the program, making it the perfect time for first-time visitors and returning festivalgoers to experience everything Cabramatta has to offer.
“Whether you’re coming for the food, the fireworks, or a great day out with family and friends, we invite everyone to come hungry and leave obsessed.”
Festivities kick off at 11am with food and market stalls, rides, free kids activities, lion dancing, and live entertainment into the night appealing to all ages and interests. Crowd favourites will return including the children’s chopstick challenge, the phở and mooncake eating competitions, together with the popular lantern parade led by the moon goddess and archer.
Food lovers won’t want to miss the Battle of the Broths, where celebrated home cook Duncan Lu will put two iconic Vietnamese soups – phở and bún bò huế – to the test. Visitors can sample both, cast their vote and help decide the ultimate crowd favourite in this fun and interactive culinary showdown.
Adding to the excitement is the debut of the Charcoal Food Precinct, an immersive dining destination inspired by the sights, flavours, and energy of Southeast Asian street food culture. Designed to create a unique atmosphere, the precinct will give visitors the chance to gather, dine, and soak up the festival vibe throughout the day.Event details:
