According to ABC News, the Anti Defamation Commission has released footage it says shows a Jewish woman being subjected to antisemitic abuse during a road-rage incident in Adelaide’s CBD. The woman was visiting from Melbourne and considering whether Adelaide could be a place to relocate.

The short video was recorded on Hutt Street and appears to show people in one car being shouted at by a man in another vehicle. The man can be heard using antisemitic language before the car drives away. The footage also appears to show the vehicle using a right-turn lane to move in front of northbound traffic.

Anti Defamation Commission chairman Dvir Abramovich said the abuse came “out of the blue”. He said there had been no context, interaction or engagement between the Jewish passengers and the other driver before the man used the word “Jew” in anger.

Dr Abramovich said the woman, described as Israeli-Jewish, had travelled to Adelaide to visit another Jewish person who was in the car. She was assessing the city as a possible destination because she feared what he described as rising antisemitism in Melbourne. He said the pair were considering a police report and had recorded the vehicle’s number plate.

SA Police said it had not received a formal report related to the footage. A spokesperson encouraged the owner of the video to attend a police station with their details and a copy of the recording, and also urged those involved to report the matter.
