On Saturday, 22 March 2025, Our Lady of Lebanon Co-Cathedral in Harris Park hosted a special Mass in honour of International Women’s Day. The service was led by Bishop Antoine-Charbel Tarabay, who emphasised the invaluable contributions of women to both the Church and broader society.

Among the attendees were Andrew Charlton MP, the Federal Member for Parramatta, accompanied by his wife and daughter. Charlton, an economist and author, has been serving the Parramatta community since his election in 2022. His presence underscored the importance of recognising and celebrating women’s roles in all facets of life.

Following the Mass, congregants gathered at the senior centre for coffee and fellowship. This gathering provided an opportunity for community members to reflect on the day’s themes and strengthen communal bonds.

Our Lady of Lebanon Co-Cathedral, located at 40-46 Alice Street, Harris Park, has long been a cornerstone for the Maronite community in Sydney. Established in 1978 and elevated to co-cathedral status in 2014, it continues to serve as a spiritual and cultural hub for its parishioners.

The celebration of International Women’s Day at the cathedral highlighted the community’s commitment to honouring the achievements and contributions of women, fostering a spirit of inclusivity and appreciation.
