The new and improved City of Parramatta website has been named Website of the Year by international digital design company, Granicus.
Council received the honour during the 15th Annual Granicus Digital Government Awards for Australia and New Zealand, with judges impressed by its accessibility, mobile usability, and content clarity.
City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter said it’s an honour to receive this award.
“Parramatta is leading the way as it transforms into a modern, global City and a big part of that is ensuring our digital platforms are the best they can be,” Cr Zaiter said.
“Being fast, accessible and mobile friendly was key – we wanted our community to be able to pay their rates in a couple of simple steps, book programs in our libraries, get the latest info on our major events and get council information fast.”
The website migration project was completed in eight months with more than 1,000 pages migrated, the top 120 pages rewritten in plain language and more than 800 images replaced.
Since being launched in July last year, there has been a significant increase in page views, search usage, and online service completion.
“Residents told us during a 2023 survey they wanted a clearer and easier site to navigate and we have delivered this as part of our broader Customer Transformation Plan,” Cr Zaiter said.
“As a result, our search usage has increased nearly threefold, with residents finding what they need faster and more confidently.
“Analytics for our upcoming event listings show a massive jump from nearly 3,000 in September 2024 to nearly 42,500 a year later with people staying on the page over twice as long.”
