According to ABC News, Sam Amine, 49, is awaiting sentence in the NSW District Court after pleading guilty to brokering the supply of drugs and a firearm to an undercover police officer. Court documents describe a NSW Police operation in which the officer used the encrypted-app handle “Kraken”.

The operation began in April 2024, when Kraken contacted Amine. A statement of facts tendered to court said Amine told the officer that 500 grams of MDMA on offer was “light but very strong”. Two days later, surveillance images showed Amine’s nephew, Nabil Allouche, entering the officer’s car outside the Greenacre McDonald’s.

The documents state the drugs were exchanged for $20,000. Forensic examination found the MDMA had a purity level of 77.5 per cent. In May, the undercover officer asked Amine, who was using the handle DK, about firearms. Amine replied: “What exactly are you looking for? You need it loaded … 30k bro,” according to the documents, and sent an image of a .45 calibre pistol.

Two days later, police surveillance captured the officer collecting the firearm in exchange for $28,000. A week after that, the documents state Amine brokered the sale of 986 grams of MDMA and 56 grams of cocaine for $48,000. Police then arrested Allouche, while Amine was arrested shortly afterwards.

Amine has pleaded guilty to supplying a large commercial quantity of drugs and supplying a firearm. He is due to be sentenced at the Downing Centre District Court next week. Separately, he is wanted by Fijian authorities over an unrelated record four-tonne methamphetamine seizure, while the NSW Crime Commission has seized $10 million worth of his assets.
