According to ABC News, Adelaide has returned to the AFLW finals frame by ending Gold Coast’s six-game winning streak with a 10.3 (63) to 7.11 (53) victory in Adelaide. The Crows led throughout and secured back-to-back wins for only the second time this season.

Irish sisters Grace and Niamh Kelly were central to Adelaide’s result. Grace Kelly kicked three goals and collected 12 disposals, while Niamh Kelly finished with two goals and 20 disposals. Eighteen-year-old Chloe Bown added one goal and 25 disposals in the final quarter.

The Crows’ win was tempered by a knee injury to influential midfielder Maddi Newman. Newman went down twice, first staying on the ground following a non-contact incident midway through the third quarter. She was substituted off to have her left knee strapped before returning to the field.

Later in the third term, Newman was hit hard by Gold Coast’s Charlie Rowbottom and was carried off again. She later appeared on the sidelines on crutches with ice on the back of her knee. Adelaide moved to eighth on the ladder with five wins and five losses, level on points with Hawthorn and four points clear of Fremantle, West Coast, Port Adelaide and Richmond. The Dockers, Eagles and Power each have a game in hand.
