R&B singer D4vd, born David Anthony Burke, was arrested on suspicion of killing a teenage girl whose body was discovered in his Tesla. The Los Angeles Police Department announced the arrest on Thursday, stating that Burke is currently being held without bail.

According to The Guardian, the investigation began in September when police were alerted to a foul odor from an impounded vehicle registered to Burke. The car, which had been towed from the Hollywood Hills, contained the severely decomposed remains of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who had been reported missing in 2024.

The medical examiner confirmed that Rivas Hernandez had been deceased in the vehicle for an extended period before discovery. Burke’s case is set to be presented to the district attorney’s office on Monday for further evaluation of evidence and potential charges.

Prior to his arrest, Burke was under investigation by a grand jury regarding Rivas Hernandez’s death. His legal team has publicly stated his innocence, asserting that no indictment has been issued against him. They emphasized that the evidence will demonstrate that Burke did not cause Rivas Hernandez’s death.

Burke, who gained fame in 2022 with viral hits, was on tour at the time of the discovery of the body, which has since been canceled. The case has prompted internet investigations, with many seeking connections between Rivas Hernandez and Burke, including statements from her brother that she had mentioned going to see a movie with the singer before her disappearance.
