Daniel Berger extended his lead to five shots at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, showcasing a strong performance in the second round. According to BBC News, Berger followed up his impressive opening round of nine-under-par 63 with a solid 68, bringing his total to 13 under.

American Akshay Bhatia is in second place, carding a 66, the lowest round of the day, to sit at eight under. Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy improved his standing with a round of 68, moving to four under and sharing ninth place.

Berger, who has not won on the PGA Tour since 2021, expressed confidence in his play, particularly on the back nine where he recorded three birdies. He stated, “I actually feel like I played better [today] – the course was a little tougher. I’m looking forward to the next couple of days and seeing the challenge they bring.”

In a tie for third at seven under are Americans Sahith Theegala and Collin Morikawa, along with Sweden’s Ludvig Aberg. Ricky Fowler is one shot further back at six under. World number one Scottie Scheffler bogeyed the 18th hole, finishing at three under after a round of 71.

England’s Tommy Fleetwood, who was four over after the first round, rebounded with three birdies on the back nine, shooting a 69 to make the cut at one over.
