According to ABC News, Gillian Hallac has appealed for information about her mother, Yvonne Whear, who disappeared nearly six months ago after she was last seen travelling towards her farm near Murwillumbah in northern New South Wales.

Ms Whear, 73, was last seen on the afternoon of February 19. Her car was recorded on CCTV travelling along Queensland Road in the direction of her farm. Earlier that day, she had attended an art class at TAFE and was seen at the Shell service station on Tweed Valley Way in Murwillumbah at about 3:15pm.

Evidence suggests Ms Whear returned home: the boots and hat she had been wearing were found there. Phone records also show she watched videos and checked her voicemail shortly before 5pm. She has not been seen or heard from since, and her car has never been found.

Ms Hallac said the family has struggled with the uncertainty. She described her mother as a very private person who cared deeply for animals on her small farm and spoke with family almost every day. Ms Whear has missed family occasions, including meeting her first great-grandchild.

Detective Inspector Paul Fenwick, manager of the NSW Police missing persons registry, said significant resources had been used in the search, including drones, helicopters, police boats, divers and sonar equipment. Searches have covered areas north of Murwillumbah towards Tomewin and waterways including the Rous and Tweed rivers towards Fingal Head.

Police said the investigation remains open to all possibilities and there is no evidence Ms Whear intended to voluntarily disappear. They have asked anyone who saw Ms Whear or her vehicle, has unreviewed dashcam footage from the area, or noticed anything unusual to contact Crime Stoppers. The renewed appeal comes during National Missing Persons Week.
