The defamation trial involving Rebel Wilson and Charlotte MacInnes has brought to light conflicting accounts regarding an incident involving producer Amanda Ghost. According to ABC News, MacInnes is suing Wilson for defamation, claiming that Wilson’s social media posts falsely alleged that MacInnes retracted her complaint about Ghost.

During the trial, which has lasted nine days, senior producer Greer Simpkin testified that MacInnes had been ‘fudging’ her version of events. Simpkin recounted an email where she stated that MacInnes was ‘walking back’ her statement regarding the incident, raising questions about her credibility.

The controversy centers around a ‘bath incident’ that occurred in September 2023, shortly before filming began for Wilson’s directorial debut, The Deb. Simpkin revealed that Ghost had suffered an allergic reaction while swimming with MacInnes and was assisted back to their shared apartment, where MacInnes ran a hot bath for her.

Further complicating matters, Wilson communicated concerns about MacInnes potentially breaching her Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) after the incident. In emails presented at the trial, MacInnes reportedly stated that she never felt ‘any discomfort whatsoever’ during the incident, contradicting the allegations made by Wilson.

As the trial approaches its conclusion, Wilson has spent three days on the stand, asserting that she had no motive to fabricate claims of sexual harassment just prior to filming. The case continues to unfold, drawing significant public interest as both parties present their accounts.
