According to ABC News, police have charged the driver of a school bus that rolled at Stonehaven, west of Melbourne, last year, killing a 12-year-old girl and injuring 15 other passengers.

The bus crashed on the Hamilton Highway near Geelong at about 8:20am on Wednesday, August 27. Police allege it was turning left onto the highway from Friend in Hand Road when it rolled.

There were 31 students aboard. A 12-year-old girl from Teesdale died at the scene, while a 16-year-old was flown to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Nine students were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and 14 others were taken for observation.

The 76-year-old Hamlyn Heights man has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, failing to stop at a stop sign and careless driving. He was bailed to appear before the Geelong Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, August 18.
