According to Allafrica, drone strikes, explosions and armed clashes have killed scores of civilians and injured dozens across Sudan, affecting Blue Nile, North Kordofan, West Kordofan and South Darfur. Attacks on displacement shelters and residential areas coincided with mine blasts and renewed violence.
In Blue Nile, the regional government said 30 civilians were killed on Friday morning when the Rapid Support Forces launched a drone attack on a displacement shelter in Abu Shandi village, Wad El Mahi locality. Emergency Lawyers reported preliminary information that eight children were killed and 26 women seriously injured, while the full toll remained unclear. Residents told Radio Dabanga that most victims were women and children who had fled Geisan locality.
The International Organization for Migration reported that 1,275 people, or 255 families, fled 10 villages in Wad El Mahi as security deteriorated, moving to locations in El Roseires locality. In North Kordofan, an RSF drone strike in El Obeid injured six civilians, damaged homes and destroyed six vehicles. A separate attack on a displacement shelter in the city last week killed five people.
In Babanusa, West Kordofan, four displaced people were killed when an unexploded landmine detonated. The reported mine-related death toll in the city has reached about 35, while more than 20 people have reportedly suffered amputations. Howaida Abdelrahman Saleh of the Muznah charitable organisation said mines and explosive remnants were scattered through homes and neighbourhoods, particularly near the military division headquarters.
In South Darfur, armed clashes in Wad El Fursan killed 11 people on Thursday evening after a dispute involving an RSF force and a motorcycle trader. A local source said the security situation stabilised by Friday morning after reinforcements arrived from Nyala, the state capital.
