Motorists of Leppington will benefit from fast-tracked upgrade works at the intersection of Cowpasture Road and Fifteenth Avenue.
Member for Leppington, Nathan Hagarty, has secured a prioritisation of improvements to Fifteenth Avenue and surrounding roads, with work to begin early 2025.
Central to this work will be an additional northbound lane on Cowpasture Road towards the M7 Motorway. This will improve flows for both through traffic along Fifteenth Avenue, and traffic accessing the M7 Motorway heading north from Cowpasture Road.
The additional lane will also improve safety for motorists by reducing traffic ‘weaving’ between lanes.
Nathan Hagarty has welcomed the long-awaited upgrade for the motorists of Leppington. However, he stresses that more needs to be done to alleviate congestion on Cowpasture Road and Fifteenth Avenue.
Expediting this work is part of the NSW Government commitment to reduce local congestion and improve journeys for the growing communities in this area.
These improvements are being undertaken while longer-term planning is forging ahead, to prepare for increases in growth when the Western Sydney Airport opens in 2026.
The improvements are funded by the NSW government.

Member for Leppington Nathan Hagarty said:
“Upgrading this intersection will bring significant improvements along both Cowpasture Road and Fifteenth Avenue, bringing much-needed relief for local motorists.
“Drivers heading north on Cowpasture Road from Fifteenth Avenue experience constant congestion and risky lane changes, especially when accessing the M7 Motorway.
“This upgrade is a long time coming and a great start, but more needs be done to address ongoing traffic flow issues, particularly on Fifteenth Avenue.
“I have been working closely with the Minister for Roads and Transport for NSW to ensure a continued commitment to improve traffic flow and reduce travel times for local residents. The Minister is coming to visit this intersection to see firsthand the challenges our community faces daily.”
NSW Minister for Roads John Graham said:
“Nathan has done a great job ensuring this is a priority project for the NSW Government.
“These interim upgrades will deliver benefits to motorists and the community sooner while future planning along this corridor continues, while we forge ahead for the longer term with Fifteenth Avenue planned to be a key transport corridor.
“These improvements will deliver not only a faster and smoother journey, especially through peak times, they will also deliver better safety outcomes with less lane weaving by motorists trying to navigate around and through this congestion point.”
