Hon. Biel Boutros Biel, the Fangak Commissioner, shared on his official Facebook account on March 31st about the recent developments in Upper Nile state. Hon. Biel, who accompanied the newly appointed Governor of Upper Nile state, Hon. James Odhok Oyay, and his deputy to Northern Jonglei state, expressed his hope for the two states’ Governors to support the reconciliation process and peaceful coexistence between the sister communities who have lived together for a long time.

The team demonstrated peace and reconciliation to the most affected population, recognizing that it is the only way to restore peace to the relative communities who have suffered the pain of losing everything together. The war that happened between the two former SPLM IO Generals who rejected Machar and later formed their movement, SPLM IO Kitwang, divided the communities.

It is worth noting that these communities are closely related by marriage and have been neighbors for a long time. According to the Commissioner’s post, significant progress has been made in reuniting the communities and restoring peace. Hon. Biel stressed that Hon. Mustafa, the Commissioner of Tonga county, will take back the administration of the county.

This initiative is crucial in ensuring peaceful coexistence and fostering development in the affected areas. It is hoped that the efforts to reconcile the communities will bear fruit and help in restoring lasting peace in the region.
