The Ministry of Health and Population announced the completion of 2,160,482 surgeries within the framework of the initiative of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to end waiting lists and prevent the accumulation of new lists for critical surgical interventions included in the initiative, since its launch in July 2018 until today.

Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the ministry received 179,994 calls from patients on waiting lists, with a completion rate of 98 percent through the hotline dedicated to the initiative.

He pointed out that the cases that were followed up from July 2023 to April of this year reached 100,425 cases.

Abdel Ghaffar said that the initiative includes surgeries for the heart, bones, ophthalmology, tumors, brain catheters, cardiac catheterization, brain and nerves, kidney transplantation, liver transplantation, and cochlear implantation. This is in accordance with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. Patients are centrally distributed to the hospitals participating in the initiative to ensure that they receive medical care as quickly as possible.

He added that the services of the President’s Initiative to End Waiting Lists are completely free of charge, and the patient does not bear any financial burdens.

The initiative aims to alleviate the suffering of the underprivileged and to perform urgent and critical surgeries with the highest quality and in the fastest possible time.
