According to ABC News, loved ones of Melbourne father Khaled Malas hold grave fears for his welfare after he disappeared following an alleged shooting in the city’s north-west.

Police have been conducting a large-scale search for a 37-year-old man who the ABC understands is Mr Malas, of Meadow Heights. He has not been seen since August 19.

Investigators said Mr Malas was allegedly shot in the chest about 7:20pm that evening after a dispute at a home in Wildwood. They said they had significant concerns for his welfare and believed it was likely he had succumbed to his injuries.

Mohammed Aboueid, 56, has been charged with intentionally causing serious injury. He appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday night and is due to return in November. The ABC understands the dispute allegedly concerned a $500,000 debt.

A long-time friend described Mr Malas to the ABC as a successful auto truck electrician, saying family and friends feared the worst. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
