According to ABC News, the incident occurred along the Kimberley coastline on April 16, with emergency services confirming Jack was recovered from the Prince Regent River shortly after 3 PM.

Jack’s father, Chad Avenell, expressed the family’s grief in a statement, describing his son as “bright, energetic, and kind.” He reflected on Jack’s role as a devoted son, brother, and friend, stating the loss has been “impossible to comprehend.”

The family has requested privacy as they mourn their beloved boy. Chad Avenell extended gratitude to the crew members and emergency responders who attempted to save Jack, acknowledging the profound impact of this loss on their community.

At the time of the tragic accident, Jack was a passenger on a vessel operated by True North Adventure Cruises, which his father owns. A spokesperson for True North described the incident as a “tragic accident” and emphasized their commitment to supporting the grieving family.
