Arabic version: العائلة تسعى للحصول على إجابات في قضية حادث سير مضى عليها 35 عامًا
The family of Mark Edward Gregory is hopeful that a renewed police investigation will finally provide answers about his death 35 years ago. According to ABC News, Gregory was killed in a hit-and-run incident in Albany, Western Australia, on April 7, 1991, while walking home from a party.
Mark Gregory was just 28 years old when he was struck by a car on Mercer Road, approximately 600 metres from his home. Despite multiple reviews of the case over the years, the driver responsible has never come forward, leaving the family with unanswered questions and ongoing speculation.
His mother, Marg Gregory, expressed her distress over the rumors that have circulated in their community, stating, “It’s been shocking, terrible … it just gets to you after a while.” The family has faced persistent harassment, with random individuals claiming to have information about the incident, which has only added to their suffering.
In a recent effort to uncover the truth, police released three anonymous letters that were sent years after the incident. These letters, believed to have been written by different individuals, contain various allegations regarding who might be responsible for Gregory’s death. Authorities are appealing to the public for any additional information that could help solve the case.
Despite previous police appeals yielding no results, Gregory’s family continues to hold out hope. Marg Gregory remarked, “I’d like to know before I go. Someone in this town knows something, and all they have to do is just say it.” Her granddaughter, Casey Greay, who was only two years old when her father died, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that hope is what keeps them pursuing answers.
