According to ABC News, north-east Victorian farmer Tom Powell is offering a $20,000 reward after his family dog, Daisy, was shot in a suspected drive-by attack at his plant nursery in Stanley, near Beechworth.

Powell was driving an all-terrain vehicle at the nursery when Daisy, a German short-haired pointer, was shot just metres away. The dog had been running with eight other family dogs at about 8:40am on May 15, while two staff members were nearby weeding garlic.

Daisy survived after a bullet entered her rear leg and exited her abdomen. She is recovering at home after receiving about $2,700 in veterinary care.

The family initially offered $5,000 for information leading to a conviction, then increased the reward because of concerns about community safety. Powell said he had lodged a police report and an investigation was underway, but no leads had been uncovered and no charges had been issued.

Powell said he believed the shooting was deliberate and that the person responsible may have driven past the nursery on Stanley Road. The family had previously used a reward and a social-media call-out after bikes and tools worth $20,000 were stolen from the property, which he said generated important information.
