His Grace Bishop Rewis, Papal Vicar of the Diocese of Melbourne and its dependencies in Australia, presided over the Divine Liturgy on Sunday morning, 13 September 2026, at St Macarius the Great Church in Melbourne, Victoria.

His Grace Bishop Daniel of Sydney and its dependencies and His Grace Bishop Daniel, Bishop and Abbot of the Monastery of St Shenouda the Archimandrite in New South Wales, joined the liturgy alongside the church’s priests.

Following the Prayer of Reconciliation, the bishops ordained Deacon Kyrillos Shehata as a priest to serve the church’s altar and congregation under the name Father Anthony.

The church held a celebration attended by Melbourne priests who arrived after completing liturgies in their own parishes. The bishops, priests and congregation congratulated the newly ordained priest.

Father Anthony will travel to the Monastery of St Shenouda the Archimandrite in Sydney to spend the traditional 40-day period under the care of His Grace Bishop Daniel, the monastery’s bishop.
