The highly anticipated trailer for the new Harry Potter TV series has been released, showcasing a fresh take on the beloved story. According to BBC News, the two-minute video offers a glimpse into significant moments from the series, including Harry’s life with the Dursleys and his arrival at Hogwarts.

The trailer features key characters such as Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia, who can be heard telling Harry there is “nothing special” about him just as he receives his Hogwarts letter. Viewers are treated to scenes of Hagrid shepherding Harry across London to King’s Cross station, iconic sights like Harry’s lightning scar and the Hogwarts Express, and familiar characters including Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, and Draco Malfoy.

While the series remains largely faithful to the original film adaptations, some elements will differ. The first season will be titled “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone,” and it will explore Harry’s experiences in a Muggle school, a narrative twist not previously depicted on screen. Additionally, Quidditch may feature updated uniforms and brooms.

The series is set to premiere in Christmas 2026 on HBO Max, with a plan to adapt all seven books over the next ten years. The production has already begun preparations, including building a temporary school for child actors at Warner Bros Studios in Leavesden.

The cast includes newcomers Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, Arabella Stanton as Hermione, and Alastair Stout as Ron. Veteran actors John Lithgow and Paapa Essiedu will portray Dumbledore and Snape, respectively. Despite some controversy surrounding the author J.K. Rowling’s views, she serves as an executive producer, ensuring a faithful adaptation of her work.
