Arabic version: فيش يحث كارديف على تكرار مستواه على أرضه خارج الديار
According to BBC News, Cardiff City defender Will Fish believes the Bluebirds can improve their position by transferring their strong home performances to away matches. Cardiff have lost four of five league games on the road this season, while remaining unbeaten at home after returning to the Championship.
Cardiff produced their most emphatic display at Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday, beating Watford 5-1 after a 3-1 home win against Charlton. Fish said the side “play good football at home” and can “blow teams away at times”, adding that getting the end product right against Watford led to five goals. Cardiff have registered the most shots in the division, but Fish said goals and clean sheets ultimately matter more than statistics.
The 24-year-old centre-back made his first appearance of the season against Watford after Dylan Lawlor was forced off with a hamstring problem after 29 minutes. Fish had been recovering from hernia surgery and said he is still playing catch-up after effectively missing pre-season, though he feels ready to help the team.
Fish was disappointed that Cardiff conceded a late Watford goal after building a 5-0 lead with five minutes remaining. The club have not kept a clean sheet since promotion and now travel to second-placed Middlesbrough on Saturday, October 17. Fish wants Cardiff to become the first away side to win at the Riverside this season, before further fixtures against Birmingham, Wolves, West Ham and Burnley.
