According to BBC News, League Two side Fleetwood Town will host Premier League champions Arsenal in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup. The Lancashire club reached this stage for the first time in its history after a 1-0 victory over Sheffield United on Wednesday night.
Fleetwood’s win was settled by an own goal from Sheffield United’s Rhys Norrington-Davies. Arsenal, managed by Mikel Arteta, progressed after beating Ipswich Town 4-2 on Tuesday. The fourth-round tie gives Fleetwood a home meeting with one of the competition’s leading Premier League sides.
Holders Manchester City will face Brighton at Etihad Stadium if they overcome Norwich in Thursday’s remaining tie. Liverpool were drawn at home to Chelsea, with Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso set to visit his former side. League One clubs Bradford and Peterborough will meet for a place in the quarter-finals after third-round wins over Leyton Orient and Barnsley respectively.
The other fourth-round fixtures are Fulham against Crystal Palace, Bournemouth versus Aston Villa, Sunderland against Brentford, and Everton against Newcastle United. The fourth round is scheduled for the week beginning 26 October.
