The beloved New Zealand comedy duo Flight of the Conchords has announced their reunion gigs, selling out in mere minutes this week. This marks their first performance in eight years, generating significant excitement among fans. According to The Guardian, Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement revealed four shows scheduled to take place at the Wellington venue Meow Nui from next week.

The duo, known for their unique blend of musical comedy, rose to fame in the early 2000s through their HBO series, featuring hit songs like “Business Time” and “Hiphopopotamus vs Rhymenoceros.” Tickets for the reunion shows went on sale Wednesday and were quickly snapped up, selling out within half an hour.

These concerts will serve as a warm-up for their upcoming performances at the Netflix Is a Joke festival in Los Angeles in May, where they will perform two shows. McKenzie humorously noted that the duo has been struggling to remember their own songs, describing their efforts as akin to a “bad covers band of ourselves.”

Fans expressed disappointment over missing out on tickets, with some resorting to humorous offers on social media, including selling organs or limbs for a chance to attend. Others suggested organizing a listening party outside the venue to enjoy the music together, showcasing their unwavering enthusiasm for the iconic duo. The first show is set to kick off next Thursday, promising a return to the spotlight for Flight of the Conchords.
