The AABC on October 8 hosted the Scaling Up to Success event at La Castelle Bankstown as part of their monthly gatherings, where Rami Ykmour, founder of the restaurant Rashays, gave detailed insights on when to Scale, Painful Decisions and The BluePrint for Growth in business.

Ykmour emphasised the challenges coming to Australia as a young boy, not fitting in and being picked on for bringing Lebanese food to school. “It was difficult times growing up, you know,” Ykmour highlighted. He discussed further that from day one, he focused on scaling the business and delayed the opening of his first shop due to the uniforms not being ready. He said it’s the little things like that which help scale your business.

Ykmour further mentioned how he walked away from a $2 million NRL team sponsorship deal because it didn’t align with his business and what they did. “It didn’t align with our customers,” he said. Additionally, he gave some inspiring advice, such as being true to yourself, being true to what you believe and staying in touch with your business. “Focus on people ahead of money, and that’s the biggest thing I’ve done. Whatever money we’ve made, it’s always been reinvested back into the business. I see a business as an extended part of me,” Ykmour pointed out.

Moreover, the event provided attendees with valuable insights into Ykmour’s business philosophy and perspective. Attendees also had an opportunity to network with fellow business leaders at the event and were provided with a complimentary dinner.
