Arabic version: معلم رياضة سابق يُحكم عليه بالسجن بسبب اعتداءات جنسية تاريخية على الأطفال
Christopher Charles Frost, a former gym teacher from Riverina, has been sentenced to three years and two months in jail for sexually abusing students in the late 1980s and early 1990s. According to ABC News, the 78-year-old Albury resident was sentenced for nine child sex offences against four victims under 16 years of age.
The offences occurred over a five-year period at St Michael’s Regional High School for boys in Wagga Wagga and the Wagga Wagga School of Gymnastics. The court heard that Frost used force and threats to deter the victims from running away or filing a complaint, which included inappropriate touching.
Victims testified about the long-term trauma they experienced due to Frost’s actions. One victim described how the abuse affected his self-image and trust in others, revealing that he was warned by peers about Frost’s behavior upon arriving at the school. Another victim reported severe psychological impacts, including suicidal thoughts and post-traumatic stress disorder.
During sentencing, Judge Mark Williams noted that Frost continues to maintain his innocence. Despite the defense’s argument that the offending against one of the victims was “spontaneous” and that the extent of any sexual gratification gained by Frost was “trivial”, the judge emphasized the seriousness of the crimes, which spanned an extensive period and involved multiple victims. Frost will be eligible for parole in 2027.
