According to ABC News, former Queensland education worker Dion Ashley Paulsen has been charged with historical child sex offences alleged to have occurred between 2007 and 2010. Police are seeking information from people who may know about his alleged behaviour.

Mr Paulsen, 52, faces two counts of indecent treatment of a child, as well as one count each of unlawful sodomy and taking a child for immoral purposes. He is also charged with contravening an order about information necessary to access information stored electronically.

The charges concern alleged offending against a teenage boy during the 2007 to 2010 period. Mr Paulsen remains in custody after appearing in Toowoomba Magistrates Court earlier this month. His matter is due to return to the Toowoomba District Court in December.

Queensland Police said Mr Paulsen worked at education facilities in Toowoomba, the Lockyer Valley and Townsville between 2007 and 2010. Detectives appealed for anyone with relevant information to come forward, saying police were committed to investigating reports of child sexual abuse.

A Department of Education spokesperson said the department was aware that a former staff member had been charged and that the person was no longer employed. Guidance support was available for students and staff requiring assistance, while parents and caregivers were encouraged to raise concerns with their school principal.
