According to BBC News, Algeria, Morocco, Cameroon and Malawi have qualified for the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil by reaching the semi-finals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Algeria secured their first Women’s World Cup appearance with a 2-1 win over 10-player Ivory Coast. Ines Khiri and Amira Ould Braham scored after N’Sira Oudraogo was sent off while Ivory Coast were 1-0 ahead.

Morocco beat South Africa 2-1, helped by goals from Sakina Ouzraoui Diki and Hanane Ait El Haj. Cameroon defeated Nigeria 1-0 through a spectacular 30-yard free-kick from 19-year-old Myriam Nyadjou.

Malawi, ranked 153rd in the world, came from behind to beat Ghana 2-1 in a major shock. Temwa Chawinga and Rose Kadzere scored the goals that sent Malawi to the World Cup.

The Wafcon semi-finals are scheduled for Wednesday, with Morocco facing Cameroon before Algeria play Malawi. Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria and South Africa can still reach Brazil through matches on Thursday, with the two winners entering 10-nation intercontinental play-offs in November and December.

The 2027 Women’s World Cup runs from 24 June to 25 July in Brazil. Eighteen of the 32 qualifying nations are now known.
