According to ABC News, four more Australians have been confirmed safe after the flood disaster in Nepal and Tibet, while 38 others remain unaccounted for. Five Australian citizens have been located safe since Tuesday morning, including one in Nepal, one in China and three outside the disaster zone.

The Australians confirmed safe on Wednesday had not contacted their families or next of kin since the flooding, and their welfare could not initially be confirmed. Families of people still missing are urging authorities to increase efforts to find loved ones.

Nepal said 1,050 bodies had been recovered by Tuesday and 3,916 people were still missing. Chinese state media reported 16 deaths and 546 missing people, bringing the reported total to 1,066 dead and 4,462 missing. At least 11,814 people have been rescued.

Rescuers are concentrating on hydropower projects, where hundreds of workers are believed to have been trapped. Nepal army images showed teams searching debris-filled tunnels, while Chinese rescue teams used dogs at the destroyed Gyirong Port border crossing. Chinese state media said the road had reopened and extra personnel had been sent to search the area.

Australia is providing $8 million in support for Nepal. Emergency supplies, including shelter, hygiene and solar light kits, were delivered by the Australian Defence Force on Wednesday, while 18 Australian response team personnel are in Nepal assisting rescue operations. Authorities have begun burying unidentified bodies after DNA sampling as mortuaries overflow, and at least 17 bodies have been recovered from rivers downstream in India.
