According to ABC News, four people have been charged after a 37-year-old man was shot in the stomach while walking near bushland in Hamilton Hill, suburban Perth. Police allege the shooting was targeted and occurred at about 4:30am on Sunday, September 13.

The incident was reported near the corner of Karda Way and Yongka Road, about 23 kilometres south-west of Perth’s CBD. A member of the public found the man and assisted him until an ambulance arrived. Police then searched the area for suspects.

Police initially urged Hamilton Hill residents to lock their doors and windows and remain inside. Later that day, they said they believed the incident was isolated and that there were no concerns for public safety. The alleged victim has since been discharged from hospital after undergoing surgery.

A 47-year-old man from O’Connor, a 39-year-old man from Aveley, a 45-year-old man from Success and a 49-year-old woman from Hamilton Hill have each been charged with attempt to unlawfully kill. They were refused bail and were due to appear in Fremantle Magistrates Court on Friday. Police said the investigation was ongoing.
