Arabic version: اعتقال أربعة مراهقين بعد طعن قاتل في بيتر بورو
Four teenagers have been arrested after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed and later died in hospital in Peterborough. The attack happened in Riseholme, near the Ortongate Shopping Centre, at about 19:00 BST on Sunday. According to BBC News, the victim later died in hospital.
The arrested individuals include a 15-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man, both from Peterborough, who are suspected of murder. Additionally, two girls aged 16 and 17 have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, with the 16-year-old girl, from March, also facing charges for possession of a bladed article. All four teenagers remain in police custody as investigations continue.
Detective Chief Inspector Richard Stott from the Beds, Cambs and Herts Major Crime Unit described the incident as tragic and confirmed that police are in contact with the victim’s family. He emphasized that the stabbing was not a random attack, prompting a significant police presence in the area to reassure local residents.
In response to the incident, St John’s Church School has decided to close temporarily due to a “serious incident” nearby, stating that they will monitor the situation and keep parents informed about reopening plans. Although the shopping centre is operating normally, certain areas, including the rear car park, have been sealed off as police investigations proceed.
