From January 17 to 19, some of the most famous French streamers came together for an online charity event, Stream for Humanity, on Twitch to raise money for the organization Doctors Beyond Borders, supporting victims of conflicts around the world.

Organized by streamer Mohamed Amine Mahmoud, known as AmineMaTue online, Stream for Humanity brought together prominent French web stars, including Squeezie, Inoxtag, Michou, and Gotaga, with the goal of “helping families affected by armed conflict,” focusing particularly on Palestine, Congo, Sudan, and Lebanon. The streaming marathon kicked off on January 17 at the Jean-Bouin Stadium in Paris, where web personalities competed in challenges and encouraged their subscribers’ generosity. The charity marathon concluded on January 19 with a soccer match featuring a team of internet celebrities against football legends such as Jérémy Ménez, Adil Rami, and Gerard Piqué.

Notable donations during the event included €5,000 from Free CEO Xavier Niel, €12,000 from Mastu, €13,000 from Samir Nasri, €50,000 from Squeezie, and an impressive €60,000 from Inoxtag.

As a private charity organization, Doctors Beyond Borders relies heavily on donations and public generosity. In response to the event, the organization expressed gratitude to the streamers on their website. Aurélie Dumont, MSF Private Fundraising Director, stated: “Every donation enables MSF to work independently with populations whose health is threatened in the heart of these crisis-ridden countries. On behalf of Doctors Beyond Borders, we would like to thank Amine and his team of streamers for the invaluable support they provide through their commitment.”
Isabelle Defourny, President of Doctors Beyond Borders, added: “We are delighted that this event highlights particularly acute and neglected crises, notably in Sudan, where famine caused by nearly two years of war has devastated communities, and in the DRC, where almost a million people have been displaced by fighting, surviving in overcrowded, unsanitary, and dangerous camps with insufficient access to water, food, and healthcare.”

Stream for Humanity is not the first charity event organized by French streamers to raise money for good causes. In recent years, these online initiatives have proliferated, especially thanks to Z Event, another gathering of internet stars. Its 8th edition in September raised over €10 million for six associations, including Save the Children, the French Red Cross, Doctors Beyond Borders, Action Against Hunger, Amnesty International, and the Pasteur Institute. Since its inception eight years ago, Z Event has raised over €31 million for charitable organizations.
