Arabic version: تجدد الضربات الروسية بعد انتهاء وقف إطلاق النار في أوكرانيا
A three-day ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine concluded with renewed hostilities as Moscow launched a series of drone attacks. According to The Guardian, Moscow launched a wave of more than 200 attack drones that damaged energy facilities and apartment buildings, killing at least one person.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that the strikes affected multiple regions, including Dnipro, Zhytomyr, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv, as well as Kyiv and the region. He stated that the Russian offensive marked the end of a brief period of relative calm. Damage included civilian infrastructure, with reports of injuries and fatalities following the attacks.
In response to the escalation, Zelenskyy emphasized the need for Russia to take steps towards a genuine and lasting ceasefire. He reiterated the importance of maintaining and strengthening sanctions against Moscow until significant changes occur in the conflict.
As the situation develops, the European Union is convening defense ministers to discuss the ongoing crisis in Ukraine and other regional security issues. Today’s discussions in Brussels are expected to focus on support for Ukraine and strategies to address the implications of the renewed violence.
