Community members are being warmly invited to attend the upcoming launch of From Survival to Contribution, a moving and inspiring new book by Vivianne Dawalibi that highlights the journeys, strength, and achievements of refugees who have helped shape Australia through their contributions.
More than simply a book launch, the event aims to shift perspectives and celebrate the positive impact refugees make within Australian society. Featuring real stories from real people, the publication explores journeys of resilience, courage, and determination, reminding readers that behind every story of survival is the potential for meaningful contribution.
Vivianne Dawalibi brings decades of experience in humanitarian service to the project. A former leader with UNHCR with over 20 years of humanitarian work across eight war-torn countries, she has dedicated much of her life to supporting vulnerable communities around the world. Her work has also been recognised through Nobel Peace Prize and UNESCO Peace Prize certificates.
The book features 18 stories from individuals and families connected to countries including Syria, Iraq, Palestine, Vietnam, Sudan and Rwanda, sharing deeply personal experiences and the ways they have built new lives while giving back to their communities.
As highlighted by Vivianne:
“This launch is more than a book event. It honours resilience, shifts the narrative on refugees, and highlights the contribution refugees make to Australia.”
The event promises to be an opportunity for community members, leaders, and supporters to come together and hear inspiring stories that challenge stereotypes and celebrate multicultural Australia.
