According to ABC News, an online fundraiser for the family of Melbourne mother Brooke Timmins has raised almost $40,000 after her death at a Clyde North home.

Ms Timmins, 29, died after her partner, Jorden Turney, 32, allegedly attacked her inside their house on Generation Drive on Sunday night. Emergency services were called about 6:30pm and found her with critical injuries. She was taken to The Alfred hospital, where she died a short time later.

In a tribute, Ms Timmins’s brother, Lachie Timmins, remembered her as a “beautiful” mother who was “loved beyond words”. He said she should still be watching her two sons grow up and called for better awareness, support and action to prevent domestic violence.

“No child should ever have to say goodbye to their mother because of domestic violence,” Mr Timmins said. He added that no family should have to endure such heartbreak and that no woman should have to live in fear.

Turney appeared briefly in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday. The court heard he had been diagnosed with a psychiatric illness and was at risk of self-harm in custody. He did not apply for bail and was remanded for a committal hearing in November.
