Animal lovers and their pets are in for a real treat at Pet’s Day Out 2026, a free community event from City of Canterbury Bankstown.

You will meet other local pet owners, find pet supplies and services from a range of stallholders, get helpful information about responsible pet ownership and be entertained with interactive activities and showcases.

Pets Day Out is open to all – including leashed and well-behaved pets – and will be held on Saturday 30 May11am to 3pm at McLaughlin Oval, Riverwood.

There’ll be plenty to see and do, including:

•              500 Paws Walk – a 600m walk around the park with your pet (includes a small giveaway).

•              K9Fun agility course – dogs can take on an agility course filled with jumps and tunnels.

•              K9Styling – pamper your pooch with a brush, bow, nail painting and highlights.

•              Pets Talk stage – learn from trainers, breeders and more on pet care, health and training

•              NSW SES stall – find out what to do with your pet in an emergency.

•              Free on-the-spot microchipping for dogs (for LGA residents) – cat owners can book an at-home appointment.

•              Pet food pantry – pick up pet food generously donated by Animal Rescue Cooperative and Pet Rescue.

•              Petting zoo – get cuddly with chickens, ducklings, rabbits, goats, sheep and more.

•              Reptile encounter – slither up to lizards, pythons, frogs, turtles and even a crocodile.

•              Fun activities for children – kids will love facepainting, inflatable play spaces and Rusty Rescue Adventure reading time.

The Canterbury Bankstown Animal Shelter team and animal charities will also be on-site with dogs and cats available for immediate adoption.

“Pets Day Out is the purr-fect gathering for animal lovers in Canterbury-Bankstown and your furry companions will also have a ball – I’m sure they’ll chase a few as well,” Mayor Bilal El-Hayek said.

“Grab your leashes and get ready for a tail-wagging good time as we celebrate the bond people have with their pets.”
