Arabic version: العرض العالمي الأول لوثائقي «نازا» عن غزة في مهرجان البندقية

According to The Guardian, the Gaza documentary NAZA, produced by the Guardian, will have its world premiere at the Venice film festival. The film is directed by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, the two Israeli co-directors of the Oscar-winning documentary No Other Land.

NAZA was produced with Jim Wilson and executive produced by Jonathan Glazer, the team behind The Zone of Interest. It is the only documentary set to compete this year for the festival’s Golden Lion.

The film-makers said the documentary was shot at night on rooftops in Tel Aviv and examines the systems behind what they described as Israel’s “calculated mass killing of Palestinian civilians in Gaza” during the war. The Guardian said NAZA is an Israeli military acronym used euphemistically by Israeli intelligence to indicate the number of civilians expected to be killed in an airstrike.

The documentary builds on original investigative reporting published between 2023 and 2025 by the Israeli-Palestinian publication +972, the Hebrew-language outlet Local Call and the Guardian. Abraham and Szor were among the four directors of No Other Land, alongside Basel Adra and Hamdan Ballal; the film won the 2025 Oscar for best documentary.
