According to ABC News, Geelong has locked in a top-two AFLW finish after defeating the Western Bulldogs by 68 points at Kardinia Park. The Cats won 13.10 (88) to 3.2 (20) on Friday night, extending their winning streak to 11 games and returning to finals after a two-year absence.

Jacqueline Parry kicked five goals in her return from concussion, taking her season total to a league-high 26 and moving past Sydney’s Chloe Molloy, who has 24. Chantal Mason added three goals as Geelong piled on seven straight majors across the first half.

The Cats, now 11-1, can finish no lower than second. They need defending premiers North Melbourne, who have the better percentage, to lose to Richmond on Saturday to finish on top of the ladder.

Geelong’s on-ball group controlled the match, with Georgie Prespakis setting the tempo alongside Amy McDonald and Mikayla Bowen. The Cats led by 20 points at quarter-time after recording 86 disposals to the Bulldogs’ 41 and 11 forward entries to two, before building a 44-point half-time advantage.

The Bulldogs, 8-4 and sitting sixth before the weekend’s games, have secured their first finals berth since 2022. However, they could not mount a comeback without experienced midfielder Ellie Blackburn, who was rested ahead of finals. Co-captain Deanna Berry, playing her first match since round two after a collarbone injury, kicked the Bulldogs’ final goal in the third quarter.
