According to ABC News, Aleesha Gilmore has avoided an immediate prison term after breaching the conditions of a suspended sentence by driving without a licence.

Gilmore was found not guilty of murdering Perth schoolboy Cassius Turvey, who died after being assaulted in Perth’s east in October 2022. She was convicted of assaulting a teenager and unlawfully detaining two others in the days before the attack.

In June 2025, Gilmore received a 15-month prison sentence for those offences, suspended for two years under strict community conditions. She later appeared before the Supreme Court via video link over the alleged breach.

State prosecutor Benjamin Stanwix said Gilmore had lost her licence in December 2025 after police found she was driving under the influence of alcohol. She was subsequently convicted in June of driving without a licence and received a further nine-month disqualification.

Chief Justice Peter Quinlan said immediate imprisonment would be unjust, noting Gilmore was halfway through her suspended sentence. Gilmore was fined $500, in addition to the $1,000 fine already imposed for driving without a licence.
