Arabic version: غليسون يقول إن الحكام استهدفوه في خسارة 36رز
According to ABC News, Adelaide 36ers coach Trevor Gleeson said he felt “targeted” by NBL referees during his side’s 96-91 Ignite Cup loss to Melbourne United on Wednesday night, the club’s third straight defeat.
Gleeson was given a technical foul in the second quarter by referee James Griguol, who made the call from the opposite corner of the court at Adelaide Entertainment Centre. Gleeson said he had been speaking with referee Andrew Goodman after 36ers guard Isaac White was hit in the face.
“The other referee on the other side of the floor gives me a technical foul, when I’m having a conversation with [Goodman],” Gleeson said. “I think I was targeted for that today.”
The coach also questioned a third-quarter ruling involving centre Nick Rakocevic. With 7:17 remaining in the term, Gleeson sought to challenge an offensive foul called against Rakocevic after he scored while colliding with Melbourne’s Fabijan Krslovic. Following a lengthy delay, Gleeson was told the decision would stand because the replay centre had already reviewed the incident.
Gleeson said he would speak with NBL head of referees Scott Butler and send video clips. He also pointed to Melbourne’s 23-16 advantage in free-throw attempts, following New Zealand Breakers’ 23-14 edge in Adelaide’s 88-72 home loss on Sunday. The defeat left the 36ers second-last on the NBL ladder.
