According to ABC News, Google Cloud services failed across Europe following a “power event” at a London-based data centre, affecting banks and websites across the continent. Google said its services in parts of Europe could experience “elevated errors and intermittent network issues”.

Google’s website said the outage occurred within the europe-west2-b zone and began shortly after 6am UK time. The company said engineering teams were investigating the incident. Its status information did not report serious issues in other regions.

Revolut was among the institutions believed to have been affected. The banking giant said on social media it was experiencing a service disruption affecting multiple services, while confirming that customers’ money and data were safe. Halifax said customers were having issues with its app and online services.

Court live streams, including coverage of the ongoing trial of comedian Russell Brand, were also reportedly unavailable. The UK’s Courts and Tribunals Service said it was aware of an issue affecting the Cloud Video Platform used for some remote hearings. British media also reported issues involving Royal Mail, Microsoft and delivery company DPD.
