RYAN PARK MP
NSW SHADOW MINISTER FOR HEALTH

Three days ago the NSW Government announced they would rollout the flu vaccine for free.

Yet today, in a Morrison-esque move, the Premier flagged supply issues will delay the flu vaccine rollout.

“I understand there’s some logistical issues that health teams are working through. There’s a whole range of issues in terms of distribution and they did raise supply as well.” – Premier Dominic Perrottet, Friday, 27 May 2022

This is in stark contrast to Queensland, who made their announcement and then implemented the program the very next day.

Health officials have warned for weeks that we are headed for a severe flu season.

However, complacency by the Perrottet Government has now seen thousands of cases across the state.

Comment from NSW Shadow Minister for Health Ryan Park:

“Already in NSW we have seen around 15,000 cases with more thousands of people presenting to emergency departments with flu like symptoms.

“This Government made their announcement days ago and now we find out that supply is an issue. This is putting lives at risk each and every day.

“We have heard from health officials for weeks now about how severe this years flu season will be. I am hearing from pharmacists and doctors they are already struggling to find additional supply of the vaccine.

“The health system was under pressure before the pandemic, but this latest flu season just reiterates how vulnerable it has been left under the Liberals and Nationals.

“I strongly urge everyone to get their flu vaccine.”
