Arabic version: دول الخليج تُبلغ عن هجمات بعد إعلان وقف إطلاق النار بين الولايات المتحدة وإيران

Several Gulf nations have reported missile and drone attacks on their territories, just hours after Iran and the United States announced a two-week ceasefire. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) stated that its air defenses “are actively engaging” incoming missiles and drones from Iran. According to Al Jazeera, the UAE’s Defence Ministry confirmed the sounds of explosions across the country were caused by air defense systems intercepting ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles.

Kuwait reported that its air defenses were intercepting a wave of Iranian drones launched since 8am (05:00 GMT). The Kuwaiti army indicated that some drones targeted vital oil facilities, power stations, and water desalination plants, resulting in significant infrastructure damage. The Defence Ministry noted that its forces successfully dealt with a total of 28 drones during the attacks.

In Bahrain, the Ministry of Interior reported injuries and damage from alleged Iranian attacks. Two citizens sustained minor injuries due to shrapnel from an intercepted drone, and explosions were heard in the capital, Manama. Civil defense crews managed to control a fire at a facility impacted by the alleged Iranian aggression.

Iran has yet to respond to the claims made by the Gulf nations. Meanwhile, Iranian state television reported an attack on an oil refinery on Lavan Island, stating that firefighters were working to contain a blaze there, with no injuries reported. The timing of these incidents follows a series of drone and missile attacks from Iran targeting Gulf countries in response to US and Israeli military operations that began on February 28.
