Rydalmere residents are invited to help design a new playground for Eric Primrose Reserve with the existing playground set for renewal to create a more modern play space.

Located on the banks of the Parramatta River between Silverwater Bridge and Park Road, the reserve is a popular destination for families, walkers, cyclists and picnickers.

The project will replace the existing playground built in 2008 and proposes to relocate the playground closer to the Rydalmere Ferry Wharf, picnic area and public amenities.

City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter said the project was an exciting opportunity to create a playground that reflects how the community wants to use the space.

“Erin Primrose Reserve has the potential to become one of Council’s most loved riverside parks and give local families a chance to help shape its next chapter,” Cr Zaiter said.

“We are continuing to renew and enhance our local play spaces so our community has access to safe and modern facilities close to home.

”This proposed new location offers better visibility and makes it easier for families to access the picnic area and nearby facilities while enjoying the riverfront view across the Parramatta River.”

Community feedback gathered during this first stage of consultation will help inform the development of a draft concept design, which will be presented for further community feedback in a second round of consultation.

The Eric Primrose Reserve Playground renewal forms part of Council’s annual Playground Replacement Program with community consultation also underway for proposed local playground renewals in Toongabbie at Ambrose Hallen Park and North Parramatta at Symonds Avenue Reserve.

Residents can have their say on Participate Parramatta until 5pm on Monday 24 September.
