According to BBC News, interim Pakistan head coach Mike Hesson said the tourists are used to “chaos” after seven players were dropped and seven others called up before the final Test against England at Edgbaston.

Pakistan have lost the opening two Tests and will try to avoid a 3-0 clean sweep when the third match begins on Wednesday, 9 September, at 11:00 BST. Hesson replaced head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed on a temporary basis after arriving in the UK for the squad’s audience with King Charles.

Hesson said the three senior players removed before he took over were batters Imam-ul-Haq and Salman Ali Agha and wicketkeeper Muhammad Rizwan. He then changed the bowling group for Edgbaston conditions, releasing spinner Ali Usman, seamer Khurram Shahzad, Aamir Jamal and Muhammad Awais Jafar.

Batters Saim Ayub and Abdullah Fazal have joined the squad, alongside uncapped spin-bowling all-rounder Arafat Minhas, left-arm seamer Mohammed Imran Jr, wicketkeeper Said Baig and all-rounders Mohammad Imran and Razaullah. Pakistan trained indoors on Friday because of wet weather in Birmingham, with four new arrivals present and three more expected later that day.

Hesson also rejected reports that Salman refused to attend the meeting with King Charles. He said Salman, Imam and Rizwan had been removed from the attendee list after leaving the squad, while the four players released later were still able to meet the King.
